Mass Transit bill crashes

The vote was 10-to-11 in the House ways and means committee this morning to kill Mayor Ballard’s mass transit bill.

Republicans put right to work language in the bill to insure that Democrats would vote against it.  Many Republicans, worried that the tax referendums called for in the bill will be viewed as tax hikes, don’t want to vote for it.

The bill appears dead for the 2012 session.
