INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana House Democrats face a second round of $1,000 fines after walking out again Thursday to demonstrate their opposition to right-to-work legislation.
Only five Democrats were on the Indiana House floor Thursday morning when Speaker of the House Brian Bosma, R-Indianapolis, took roll call. In all, 63 lawmakers were present, which is not enough to conduct business.
Union members, who continue to demonstrate in opposition to right-to-work, chanted “power to the people” as the walkout continued.
Bosma again tried to gavel the legislators into session for a second time at 11:30 a.m. Thursday without success. As a result, members present voted to fine the missing Democrats.
Democrat minority leader Pat Bauer, D-South Bend, told the media Thursday that his party will continue to meet in caucus until they finish an amendment to the bill that would require the public to vote in a referendum before the law would take effect.
A previous attempt at a similar amendment was abandoned after a non-profit group challenged its constitutionality,
On Wednesday, House members approved imposing $1,000-a-day fines on absent Democrats, who didn’t show for two roll call attempts.
Democrats oppose a Republican-backed right-to-work bill. They plan to fight the fines in court.

there has to be some way to make it hurt these guys bad enough financially to make them come back!!! Maybe the AG sue in our behalf for damages, sue each personally. But I guess the labor unions would pay it for them.Get rid of them, the guy with the hair peace that looks like a dead cat goes first!

I oppose right to work. Being part of a labor union has given me and my family a better way of life. I choose to be a union member; it was not forced upon me. I was excited to join a better way of life which consists of: better education, retirement, and health benefits. We have an amazing cohort between our members and contractors. Our contractors that use our labor supply invest their time and money to make sure they are equipped with the finest work force of highly skilled men and women. Our negotiated contracts between labor and management instill the best possible resources to maintain this highly skilled work force.
Right to work is and has always been misrepresented to the general public. As a union skilled tradesperson, from a negotiated wage package, we invest in our own futures by packaging our wages to fund (3) pensions, (1) annuity, health benefits, and free training throughout our 5 year apprenticeship and ongoing CECs.
We take pride in protecting our futures while building America. In the end, we will be the few that will not be a tax liability on the general public. Support the hard working Hoosiers. Stop right to work, stop buying products that are not made in America and start convincing corporate America to invest in its own citizens. Bring better paying jobs to Hoosiers, not low paying jobs that will need local government to subsidize from tax money to make ends meet. In the 22 states that are presently right to work, our brothers and sisters make far less. Remember, middle class with good paying jobs are what stimulates local economy. If you do not make money, you certainly cannot spend money.
Last, corporate America needs better leadership across the board, including House Representatives and Senators. Great leaders eat last!
Again, please stop right to work in Indiana.
Regards,
Mike Hopkins

Lets have a statewide referendum on throwing Bower out of office!
Bower, being of short staure, is displaying for all to witness, the Napoleon syndrome, or as I like to call it, the short fat kid who was the last one picked for a dodgeball team.
The fleabaggers cannot argue on the issue so they whine and cry and rabble rouse the thuggery. What rubes, and a disgrace.
The voters of Indiana who put these obstructionists in the minority still have some work left to do in November, out with the old school union loving job killing democrats for good.

As I have said before, I will never give the democrats another crossover vote. This kind of crybaby activity does not deserve to be rewarded.
