INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A Republican-dominated Indiana Senate committee endorsed the right-to-work bill that has prompted a three-day standstill in the Indiana House.
The Senate labor committee voted 6-4 to send the bill to the full Senate, where the GOP holds a 37-13 majority and the party's leader has made its passage a top priority. The bill would prohibit contracts between companies and unions that require workers to pay representation fees.
Minutes after that vote, the House again was unable to convene as most Democrats stayed away in protest of the proposal.
Republican Sen. Brent Waltz of Greenwood joined the committee's three Democrats in voting against the bill. During testimony, Waltz question experts who back the proposal, saying he is not convinced of the measure's economic benefits.

Im not total republican but some of you need to be reminded that unions set the wage scale for EVERYONE. If we didnt have unions we would all be working for $8 if your lucky. It wasnt there wages that ran companys south it was political bs. These places have been in buisneaa for 40 years +. and families were doing very well. Is the corp,, greed that drove them to help bust the unions. I do admit some unions asked for it, constantly filing charges and for pay they didnt deserve{UAW} but most are needed to stay and fight for a higher wage and better living for ALL of us.

It's all about greed. This just shows that all but one republican would sell their own mothers at the cost of the middle class working people. I hope all you sheeple will like working for minimum wages. That's what some people call beneficial to hoosier families and a real freedom so the rich can take food out of children's mouths.
Companies that did leave the USA left because they can pay mexicans and chinese about $1 a day and not have to pay any benefits. It's called slave labor in the USA.
This law makes it mandatory that unions represent people that don't pay union dues.
Take that out of this law and I would even vote for it. Those words in this law proves it's just a ploy to bust the unions. For you people that don't see it it just shows how easy it is for the republicans to pull the wool over your eyes. GOOD LUCK LITTLE SHEEPLE.

It's not the companies get richer but are able to stay in business and keep jobs over here instead of paying ridiculous wages and benefits for a bunch of whiny asses who want everything handed to them.

Good for passing this measure. It`s good for Indiana, it`s good for Hoosier families, and it`s great for freedom. Freedom to NOT be forced to pay union thugs for the privilege to work. Bravo.

2wheelrider,Either you or your daughter inlaw has it backwards. In all factories I have worked in,company personel are never in the union and never pay dues. If she is paying dues then she is being represented.
If unions are the biggest reason why companies left the USA, then why did so many more ( 2 - 1 ) non union shops leave. Union shops only represented 7% of the working people in this country when N.A.F.T.A. was signed into law. And you can thank Reagan for starting it and you can thank BILL CLINTON for signing it into law. If you don't believe what I have just told you then you should look it up. I did and that is how I know. I have worked in union and non union shops all my life and have never heard of the situation your daughter inlaw is in.

My daughter inlaw's company just voted in a union. She is paid hourly, but because she is a Supervisor, she must pay the dues and not receive the benefits....how fair is that. The premise for unions has been lost. All they want is money. The cost of the union workers is the main reason so many jobs have left the country. These politicians should all be fired...they were hired to do the majority of the peoples business. Instead they hide, they are cowards....

The Unions workers are the ones' who built America. All this does is helps the companies get richer and the working man Poorer.
