Sydney Leathers continues to speak out

The Indiana woman involved in an online affair with Anthony Weiner is still speaking out about the experience that now threatens his run for Mayor of New York City.  Sydney Elaine Leathers appeared on the tabloid show Inside Edition Thursday to give her side of a cyber romance that, it turns out, was one of three that Anthony Weiner engaged in after he resigned from Congress. On Friday evening she will be on Inside Edition again..

This time the Princeton, Indiana woman expresses some harsh feelings for Anthony Weiner, the former Congressman she once described as her hero.  “I just feel nauseous, literally nauseous when I see him,” she said.  “You get to know someone and you think they’re this other person and you really find out they’re just kind of a sexual deviant and that’s it.”

The reporter who conducted the interview, Jim Moret, told CNN that his belief is that Leathers is motivated by a desire to do the right thing.  “She feels very guilty about the pain that she feels responsible for causing in their marriage,” he said.  “She came forward because he’s a fraud in her view and she wanted the voters of New York to have the full story before they went to the polls.”

But Leathers also portrays herself as a victim and during a taping of Indiana Week in Review that’s an interpretation that didn’t sell.  “Who are the victims?” asked panelist Jon Schwantes.  “I’d say it’s probably his closest supporters and family.”

“And no, I don’t think she’s a victim, either,” said Democrat Ann DeLaney, “and I think her parents are probably cringing because it’s sordid.”

Leathers did express sympathy for Huma Abedin, Weiner’s wife.  “I feel for her,” she said.  “I feel terrible that I’m part of that.”

Before this scandal broke Anthony Weiner was leading the race for the Democratic nomination for Mayor of New York.  In a new poll he is now 8 points behind Christine Quinn, the new leading candidate.
