House speaker Bosma returns to work after knee surgery

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma is back on the job.

Bosma was greeted by a standing ovation when he returned to the House floor Wednesday morning for the first time since he underwent emergency surgery last week. He was treated for an infection that resulted from a knee replacement last summer.

The Speaker told lawmakers that "all is well" with his health and that he had been watching House activity online.

"Although I can tell you that it's like watching paint dry," he said, "when you just sit and watch it for hours and it did cause a blood pressure problem for me in the hospital as well, so the doctor said, "that thing is gone.'"

Bosma walked with a cane when he arrived at the Statehouse.
