INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Gov. Mike Pence's first State of the State address should give Hoosiers a better idea how he plans to improve jobs training and education during his first year as governor.
The new governor's campaign "roadmap" lacked many of the details that come with legislation, executive orders and other concrete proposals. But many of the details have been trickling out as lawmakers meet this year. Measures establishing jobs training councils and funding private pre-school are being vetted.
Pence also wrote some of his promises into action with executive orders he signed on his first day in office. He placed a moratorium on new government regulations and also required workers in certain departments to begin drafting "family impact statements."
Pence delivers his first State of the State address Tuesday.
