Ex-top Daniels aide named Ivy Tech's top lawyer

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A former top aide to Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels is taking over the position as Ivy Tech Community College's top lawyer being given up by Congresswoman-elect Susan Brooks.

Ivy Tech says Chris Ruhl will continue as the school's chief financial officer while adding Brooks' former responsibilities as general counsel.

Ruhl joined Ivy Tech in early 2012 after serving under Daniels as director of the Office of Management and Budget or State Budget Agency director since 2007. Ivy Tech has more than 100,000 students at its campuses around the state.

Brooks is a Republican who won election in November to take the place of retiring Congressman Dan Burton in central Indiana's 5th District. Her term in Congress begins Jan. 3.
