INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Incoming Gov. Mike Pence is heading west this week to get his bearings as he shifts from the legislative branch to the executive.
Pence's transition team announced Tuesday he would travel to a meeting of the Republican Governors Association in Las Vegas and later to a training session for new governors being conducted in California by the National Governors Association.
Pence spent the last dozen years in Congress and will be faced with much different challenges as he moves into overseeing Indiana's many state agencies.
Pence has appointed longtime aide Bill Smith to lead his transition efforts and is expected to continue building his administration as he prepares to take the governor's office in January.
