INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Republican Senate candidate Richard Mourdock said people were twisting his word for partisan politics Wednesday morning after making widely-discussed comments about rape and abortion.
Mourdock called a morning news conference after an overnight and Wednesday morning media storm about his comments.
“I don’t think God wants rape. I don’t think he wants that all because rape is evil,” Mourdock said Wednesday morning.
Falling short of apologizing for what he said, Mourdock said he was sorry if people mistook what he said.
“So many people mistook, twisted, came to misunderstand the points that I was trying to make,” he said.
During Tuesday night’s debate, someone asked Mourdock if abortion should be allowed in cases of rape and incest. In his response he said, “I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize that life is that gift from God. And, I think, even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happened.”

I UNDERSTAND WHAT RICHARD MOURDOCK WAS MEANING ABOUT RAPE BEING EVIL. RAPE IS THE FIRST
SIN AND THE SECOND SIN IS ABORTED AND TAKING A LIFE OF INNOCENT CHILD. Satan BRING EVIL
BUT OUR HEAVENLY FATHER BRING LIFE. HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON SO WE CAN HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.

I believe what Richard Mourdock said about rape was twisted and misunderstood!!! Rape and molestation is a horrible thing that many women and men go
through in our country and we need to do everything in our power to stop
these perpetrators and keep them off the streets. With that said, it does happen and everyone has their beliefs on the issue. Here is my take on the issue. Someone who is a product of rape or molestation would know more than anyone that they are here for a reason and that reason is because God has a plan for each and everyone of us. I believe Richard Mourdock was saying that God doesn't want rape or molestation to happen, but he believes God wouldn't want us to kill a baby because of what happened. It's not the baby's fault how he/she is born and that baby can grow up and make a difference in our world some day. It doesn't make that baby a bad person or a bad seed, if you will. Someone who is a product of rape or molestation can grow up to be a good person and a good citizen just like anyone else. It makes me sick to hear that there are people turning Mourdock's words around to their advantage just for the election. I believe in God and Mourdock has my vote!!!!
