INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A Democratic-aligned veterans group is spending $275,000 against Republican Richard Mourdock, adding to what has become an incredibly expensive week in Indiana's pitched Senate battle.
A Democrat tracking ad buys for Rep. Joe Donnelly's campaign says VoteVets.org is entering the fray with a commercial hitting the Republican state treasurer for fighting the Chrysler bankruptcy. The group's new spot brings the total spent by outside groups and the candidates on air this week to $2.75 million.
The spot will run for two weeks across the state.
The Democrat spoke on condition of anonymity because outside groups do not typically divulge how much they are spending.
Mourdock and Republican groups have stuck by a strategy of arguing that Donnelly has been too closely aligned with President Barack Obama in Washington.
