Wallace fails to meet ballot requirement

Mike Pence will be unopposed in the G-O-P primary for governor.

Hamilton County businessman Jim Wallace planned to challenge Pence but failed to meet a requirement to get his name on the May primary ballot.  The Marion County voter registration office late this afternoon certified just 389 signatures in the 7th Congressional district.  That’s 111 short of the 500 required.

“Obviously we’re disappointed to hear that,” said Wallace, “but, ah, we have personally reviewed about a third of the signatures that have been rejected so far and found them to be valid registered voters so we’re considering our options at this point and probably have more to say on Friday.”

Wallace says his options include a legal challenge as well as possibly abandoning his campaign.
