Q..............Q unions
The democrats are acting like many of the protected Union members that I knew in my town. Don't want to go to work cause things are not fun today, or the boss is doing something I don't like.....if many of us did that we'd have no job to go to.....that feeling of I don't have to go to work if I don't want......not what Hoosiers want to be associated with!!!
I grew up in a twenty plant GM town. Everyone here if they are honest can tell you of more than ridiculous antics by the many of those. "members" because they felt invincible. The Union in the beginning was necessary but it became a joke here. Most working outside the factories scratched our head in amazement at what GM had to keep. Besides, thanks to NAFTA companies don't and won't pay those wages anymore plain and simple, they dont need our permisson to pay cheap wages- thats a proven fact!!,Also, no company should have any interest or program where workers are forced to join or contribute to any group or charity! Nobody wants the government to control everything, yet agree to let a group as strong and sometimes menacing like some Unions are, set the bar on who does or does not work for a company they don't own!!! Businesses are saying no and so should we!!! Anybody starting a business want to be forced to keep and hire the people I tell them to...a lot of businesses don't want to give the Union that control either!!!!
RTW is already covered under Federal Labor Laws. Section 7 of the National Labor Relations Act clearly states the rights of American workers: Employees shall have the right to self-organization; to form, join, or assist labor organizations; to bargain collectively through representatives of their own choosing; and to engage in other concerted activities for the purpose of collective bargaining or other mutual aid or protection.... Section 7 also protects workers' rights to join labor unions which will best represent their interests and/or to take other collective action to defend their rights in the workplace. Taft-Hartley amended this section by adding that employees "shall also have the right to refrain from any or all such activities." Why must Indiana or any other state have their own state law? There are so many other important issues that we could be tackling.
Interesting research. Does ‘Right-to-Work’ Create Jobs?: http://www.irle.berkeley.edu/cwed/wp/right_to_work.pdf “every economic development official in the competing states with whom we spoke indicated the single most important reason for their economic growth over the previous three to four decades was an emphasis on education and workforce development.” Doubt that most people, pro or con, will bother to read this. Too bad.
