Congressman Joe Donnelly was elected to represent Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2006.
Donnelly's district includes La Porte, St. Joseph, Marshall, Starke, Pulaski, Fulton, Cass, and Carroll counties, as well as parts of White, Porter, and Elkhart counties.
Donnelly served on the Indiana State Election Board from 1988 to 1989. He also served on a local school board for Mishawaka Marian High School from 1997-2001. He served as president of that school board for the 2000-2001 term.
Donnelly has sponsored or co-sponsored multiple pieces of legislation intended to benefit veterans. He served on the House's Veterans' Affairs Committee and supported the 2008 increase in funding for veterans, the largest in history.
In 2010 he co-sponsored a bill that eliminated the automatic cost of living pay adjustment for members of Congress during 2011.
In his current campaign, Donnelly has used his website to highlight three issues in particular: job creation and retention; retirement, including an opposition to privatizing Social Security and an opposition to increasing Medicare premiums; and improving care for veterans.
Joe Donnelly is listed as a sponsor or cosponsor of these bills.
